Davy Wotton SLF Dubbing

Hello,

I ordered on a french site some SLF dubbing.
I had the good surprise to see that it was Da<vy Wotton's SLF dubbing.

I'm not used to tie with synthetic materials, so I wanted to have some advices.
What is the best use for that kind of material?
Is it best for dry flies or underwater flies?

Originally, I wanted to use it for body and thorax dubbing on dry flies (parachutes espacially).
But seeing it, I think on nymphs it could be good too?
In wet as well.

Is that material really adapted for dries?

Davy is the SLF expert and I'm sure that he will personally reply to your question. My philosophy is that as long as it's the color I want and it rolls on the thread the way I want it to, I use it whether I am tying nymphs or dries. I've often thought that the shiny characteristic of synthetics inhanced the effectiveness of a fly whether it floated or was sunken. Additionally, synthetics seem to be more resistant to discoloration from water that contains lots of algae.

I ask because it seems to me that SLF dubbing could be good for "giving life" to nymphs.

i have 2 dubbing boxes filled with davy's slf, and i want more.

by far, for synthetic dubbing, it is the easiest to dub onto thread in a manageable manner. love it, i use it primarily for nymphs as I dont really tie dry flies yet.

Davy has had more to do with the development of Wapsi dubbings than anyone. Much of what they sell comes from Davy as the bought his company out and thus own the multitude of blends he created. That includes SLF which is short for (Synthetic Living Fiber).

Does anyone know were you get get some of the spikey squirrel dubbing preferably a assortment pack

Clema. Which SLF dubbing do you have as l produced over 300 different blends and colors.
some has more of a use for nymphs, streamers, wet fly and soft hackles, others more so for dries.
