Barn Island/Sandy Point Report

Fleet of kayaks headed out this am. Coulnd't have had any better of a morning. We were making our way through the cut heading out to the flat when I had busting fish 10-30 feet from the yak in about 6 inches to 1ft of water. Got one from the yak. Got out and stalked a few busting fish. Splash. I made a nice cast, FISH ON! I hooked up twice after seeing two wakes. After that I eaded east on the flat towards the upper part of the drop off. Saw fish busting there so headed right for them. A little different type of site fishing took place. Once you saw a busting fish, cast, and strip a few times, FISH ON! Hooked and landed another 11 fish. Avg. size was 19-23 inches. Really nice fish. I radioed to the crew but they were into fish out further on the flat near the channel. Small sparse sand eel patterns were the trick. Did get one on a crab pattern. One of my friends, Mike, made his way over to me and hooked up with about 5 or so fish. A few small blues in the mix. Mike had to sacrifice a few flies to the almighty toothed one! No wind, clear sky, fishing with friends, also got a chance to meet a new member of my saltwater club, can't get any better. Tight ones!
