I fished the river yesterday from 430-930pm. Of course there were crowds and some competitive fishing, canoes and kayaks. There was a steady hatch of size 16 sulfurs for the first few hours. Rising fish were sporadic, and isolated to a few small areas, not widespread were I was. I saw sulfurs, Isonychia (a few), yellow sallies, and a few olives. Evening fishing was slow, except for the same fish that were rising late afternoon. My friend BLACKGHOST1 did better than I, but I managed a few small fish anyway. There did not seem to be a concentration of salmon parr where we fished. The weather was nice and cool, 80 when we arrived, mid 60s when we left. In low humidity, you definitely need a fleece to fish this river.
For a change of pace, I didn't even bother fishing streamers or nymphs this outing. When I was wading out, I noticed that a new deeper channel had been gouged out of the stream mid-river. The amount of sand that was washed out of the stream is unbelievable.
