I was wondering what advice anyone could give regarding doing this well...lots of guys seem to be able to get good shots while fishing solo...I finally got another camera a couple weeks ago and took it with me but for the life of me...between landing the fish putting the rod somewhere and keeping the fish alive long enough to get the camera out of my sandwich baggie ...not sure if anyone has a method or system down to do this well.

Invest in a waterproof digital camera. There are many makes and models out there now and some of the newer ones take great pictures and HD video for around 300 dollars. Pentax just came out with a new version the W90. Highly recommended.
This way you don't have to worry about dropping it the water.
Keep the camera close. I usually keep it down the front of my waders or in a shirt pocket. I take it out and turn it on after the hook set. Cradle the fish in the water, snap a pic, release. The fish never leaves the water and its over fairly quick.
I second the water proof camera. The Pentax is a good camera so is the Olympus Stylus is also a good choice. I own both I like both but I think the Olympus takes better pics. A net also helps.
I am cheap. I have a inexpensive digital camera on a lanyard and keep it under my waders.
For what it is worth.![]()
Standing in moving water circulates the soul and quiets the mind.
i second the waterproof digital camera recommendation. I got a refurbished Olympus SW1050 off eBay for like $150, works great. Now if I could just catch a few more subjects to photograph everything would be perfect![]()

I keep the fish in the net in the water in order he could breath. I take the camera. I put the fish and the net on a flat part of the river. But I never get the fish out of the water.

Usually the fish stops to move after a while.
After, he's able to go back to the river with full energy and no problems
