Nice going Kyle - and good for you exploring some new water. Sometimes it really pays off.
So I decided to go and fish the farmington today (saturday) and see if the hendricksons would come off. I started the day euro-nymphing and did pretty well, but as things picked up I switched over to my cane rod and dries (I coulden't resist too many rising fish!) My dad and I then decided to take a ride by black bridge, why I don't know I never really fish down there. But when we got there I decided to go downstream and walk the bank a bit, while I was walking I noticed a gigantic rainbow in the water so naturally I had to go for him.
It was a measured 26" but fatter than hell. I landed him with a 7' 5wt cane rod, varivas 5X and a vladi worm. An absolute pig, I showed this pic off a lot today as you could imagine and everyone agreed that it was a 10lb+ fish.
needless to say I'm pretty dam happy!

Great job Kyle. Awsome fish lucky he didn't blow up your cane rod.
Looks like a small steelhead.
Holy Cow, or pig. Congrats! I don't I am going to post a picture ever again.
I need to start fishing bigger streams!![]()

Kyle: What are you talking about? OF COURSE, you are going to top that fish! Nice going. Sight fishing to a breeder takes a lot of accurate casting skill.
Thanks everybody, It was really tough landing that fish, my net was way too small so my dad actually tailed it. Now I know why you guys carry around those huge brodin nets! I think I better get one too now lol just in case
