Alright!

Flash and I are finally making the pilgramage to Montana!

At the Somerset show this weekend, I was told by a Montana guide that the snow pack is deep this winter, and to expect the run-off to last into at least early July. I am figuring that I should wait until at least late July or even early August to head out there.

I'll be using frequent flier miles, so I need to book flights pretty darn soon, so I would appreciate any advice on when to go.

Those who know us, know that we are hard core nymphers, we really do not give a darn if we never tie on a dry (though, I must admit it would be cool to catch the Salmon Flies on the water, but then, I guess that's when it gets as crowded as possible out there), and we will be doing mostly wade fishing, so factor that into the timing.

Also, our tenative plan is to stay in West Yellowstone, fish at least a day in the park, at the very least to have done it, and hit some of the obvious targets outside the park; the Madison, the Yellowstone, etc.

Just for kicks, for those of you who have been out there, if you had 6 or 7 days to fish, one of which you would do a guided float, and wanted to do a bit of a tour of the area wade fishing, what rivers would you plan on hitting, and which would you choose to float?

I plan on buying a guide book or two for the area, and doing a lot of research online, but I really respect the opinion of a lot of people on here, and really want to hear your input.

Thanks for any help,

Steve
