Farminton river peoples state forest

I was checking out some sections of the Farmington that I have not fished . I was particularly interested in the section of the river in the peoples forest sate park opposite the campground . There were some spots that looked pretty good to me. I am concerned that this stretch gets pounded to death. I have to drive an hour and a half to get to the river so I like to make good chices about learning new water. Is this section of the river worth exploring?

If you fish above the campground pool on the state forest side you can find some good spots that don't get hammered. But if you fish at whittemore's pool or right in the campground you're fishing in spin fisherman paradise. Whenever I take a drive by whittemores there is always 5 or more spin guys. So just go above the campground and you should be pretty good, there's some good euro nymphing spots up there.

Its good all the way up to the dam in Riverton. You will catch almost 100 percent recently stocked trout up there. You have the chance at a big breeder from the Riverton Derby!
