    Farminton

I will be on the river this afternoon for a couple hours hoping to duplicate my recent and surprising success. I will let you know how it went.
OK,did fairly well. Caught a few in a couple different locations. At the last stop there was a fellow catching fish Euro-French style with a coiled sighter and I think it was Heavy D. He was right across from me and one of his fish looked to be a really nice one. Indicator nymphing was my preferred method today. Took fish on egg paterms and caddis larvae. One word of caution, take care de-icing your guides with your fingers especially obviously the tip. I broke mine off today with my fingers. It was my TFO 10 ft 5 wt rod. I'll have a tip put on locally tomorrow. Heres a few from before the rod broke.

Dont blame me for that lip thing going on there!

Tom its a 9 foot 11 and a half now Its been a good rod. I have used it hard for 3 years. It had to go back to replace the butt section once as the cork rod interface had gotten loose. Its a do every application rod. Davy Wotton was involved in the design of it. It can fish wets, it can fish indicator style, Euro long leader, and even dries. Im going to put it in the mail and they will turn it back into a 10 ft rod with a new tip. How can you beat that. I am going to have to make do with my 9 ft 5 wt for a few weeks.

    Hi Clema74!
Euro French style! Aaron taught me this style of nymph fishing. It is derivative of the competetive fly fishing in Europe and is an adaptation by the French national team of the highly succsessful Polish and Czech techniques. They use a long leader and little or no fly line touches the water. Read about it in this forum. There is massive amounts of information here if you want to take the time.

Is this fishing "under the rod"?

    Re: Farminton

Got out Monday 2/15 early in the morning with my son Mike. We took a mix of rainbows and browns. There were a number of other guys that we saw taking fish subsurface too. Eight between the two of us and I was surprised that my Greys 10 ft 3 wt casted the indicator rig really well. I used it out of necessity but it was a pleasant surprise. I can imagine the greys 4 wt would do an even better job in this aplication. I dropped the broken TFO rod off at Upcountry fly shop where I purchased it. They took it no problem and said they will ship it for me and call me when it comes in. How can you beat that? They really back up what they sell which should be a consideration when choosing where to purchase a rod in your area.

This is on of Mike's rainbows

Walsh...I have to admit...very few things I regret in this world...selling that TFO is one of them. I now have the grey's but in terms of versatility...my opinion...the TFO is really hard to beat. The grey's is really nice....but I am honestly thinking of selling it.
