Awesome New Year's greetings! No better way to begin the new year.
Were there any other anglers out there? How were the flows, clarity, insect activity?
What a great morning, makes me even more regretful!
We caught tens of fish this morning, until the snow chased us out (I was worried about the drive home). It was 24 deg in New Hartford, and 44 in Branford when I got home. What a wild storm, and an incredible morning. Best wishes to all!

2009 Fish Whistler Champion, "Beads or Bust!"
Thats why I call it the "Farmingtons of Trout River"! Its strange last year the bigger fish were caught with regularity, this year they show up very infrequently.
what a why to start 2008 once i get my new rod i will out fishing alot
We saw a half dozen other anglers. They caught a few fish too. I saw zero winter caddis today. The water flow is moderate, clarity is excellent. The weather was cold, but not unbearable. I wore my new windstopper products and they were excellent. The ice off paste definitely delays ice formation; it is especially important on top two or three guides and tip top. I put it on the night before. My wading shoes were frozen when I put them on. The drive home wasn't too bad, but I didn't want to take a chance.
Whar a great way to start out the new year.
I was thinking of doing the same had all my gear in the car and then let the snow change my mind. (WIMPY WIMPY ME) So i decided to tie up some golden stones.
Did you use golden stone flies at all? The other day when i fished the farmington that's what i hooked all my fish on.

FLYDAD:
I saw your post from Sunday, five fish on [glow=red,2,300]golden stones [/glow] and an 18 inch fish - that's a great winter's day of fishing. In fact, from November-March, it's hard to beat that pattern on both the Hous and the Farmington. If you haven't already, try adding a little "holographic gold" ice dub to your traditional golden stone (the dirty yellow color) dubbing.

Don't feel bad - I wimped out too
It's supposed to be in the 40's this coming weekend. I hope to get out then (along with a bazillion other anglers on the Farmington).
I have to tie up some golden stones too - anyone have a relatively quick, easy and effective pattern to share? Mine seem to take forever to tie.
I'm not a fisherman. I'm a fishing machine!

We did a golden stone as the FOTM (April 07), it is a pretty simple tie.
Just waitin on Juice to fix the link.
If I remember when I'm home tonight, I'll put up a couple of the pics.

Nice Card Alain, sorry I missed it, that hangover would not have been easy to nurse in that snow.
