Hit the Farmington today. Took my nephew. Early star again. 7am on the river. Overcast. Didn't take water temp but my estimation it was in the low to mid thirties. Very slow today. Some winter caddis and midges but not many. I managed 2 fish the first few minutes we were there and didn't manage another fish on a nymph all am. Did manage to get 1 on top. Lost another fish in the shallow riffles. My nephew landed 3 with the spin rod. Was happy for him. Will be teaching him how to fly fish next month which he is looking forward to. Saw Mr. Caulfield and he managed to get 1 fish himself. Also saw Troutaholic. He was managing a few fish here and there. Good to see ya again TA! There were a few other people out and other than one other guy, no body catching fish. Will hit the river next Saturday with a couple of friends. Hope it is better than today. However, have been slightly spoiled over the last month and half. Fishing has been nothing better than spectacular. Gotta have days like this and some fish is better than none. Everyone, have a happy holiday and be safe. Stay hooked!
