Just a dark PT? Anything else? Any other material I should consider?

Slo,
Glad to see some other guys like to fish wets for that hatch. I have played around with soft hackle imitations of the same vein and done really welly pre, and post hatch.
Opie, I have tied several different imitations for the hendrickson nymph, and my box is full of all of them at one time or another. The key is the color and shape, make your imitations rather stocky in the thorax and brownish red or straight brown. You should have no problems catching fish. I find myself resorting to a PT with a dubbed thorax of coarse brown fur, with or without a copper bead....it makes no difference. The fish at that time of year are hungry and something not so perfect does the trick...Trust me. Aaron and Torrey will agree. If one pattern starts to slow down for your, try another.
Here's another, couldnt post it last night, it was on the wrong computer.
I like this better than the PT cuz it lasts longer
But I dont think one works better den de utter
Fiend,
I like the wet because they'll hit it either way - driftin or swingin

Nice deal,
I have some stellar ones myself, of which I am not willing to post... ;D ;D.
I havent set up a photobucket account yet, so submitting pictures is sort of a pain for me right now...
On another note, just turning some of your key nymphs into soft hackle type imitations is a great way to mix it up. Pre hatch, these flies are deadly. Ive had some pretty ridiculous days fishing a pair of these in the heads of pools with a bb shot and no indicator dead drift with a swing at the end....and wow does it work!
Once last year on the farmington I caught the same brookie of about 14 inches 5 times in a 1/2 hour utilizing this technique...the only reason I knew it was the same fish because he had a unique heron wound on his back....really crazy.
On a final note, if you guys like tying these sort of flies but hate the delicacy of partridge, I suggest getting some Brahma hen necks from whiting... They are about 10-12 bucks a neck and they are a good substitute for partridge, and are at minimum 50% more durable then partridge...my .02 cents...
I tied up a couple of those wet's from slo's photo - anxious to tie some more but I probably should get your expert opinion on the materials. I used that (Ernest Schweibert Series) Orangish Black Scintilla for dubbing and furnace or light dun hen's neck. I think the furnace looks better - did you use ginger?
Awww, I dont know what color it is, but it's still on my table :-[, you can stop by tomorrow and check it out for yourself - It was definately a hen neck, I know that much for sure 8)
