    Farmington River Mop Up!

    Well,
Change of plans today. Was going to fish the Housy and due the amount of rain they were supposed to get, last second changed plans and hit the Farmy. Glad I did. Despite all the rain and wind, Ben Tyson and I mopped up! Used egg patterns throughout the day. Also got some fish on streamers. Moved around a lot. In the TMA and outside of it. I managed to hook 16 fish and land 14. Mostly all on the eggs. I landed the Farmy Triple Crown. 1 brookie, 3 rainbows, and 10 browns. My biggest was a nice fat 15 inch brown and another just over 16 inches. SEE PICS IN THE GALLERY. Ben ended up with over 10 fish of his own. He had 2 fish that were over 18 inches. We were soaked through despite the Gortex but it was well worth it. I love fishing on days like this because the crowds are down and the fish are eager to eat. Nothing like Fall trout fishing. I have to say, as much as I love the salt, AND I DO, I will always love trout fishing a little more. Troutbum forever Anyway, going out with Mr. Trembley tomorrow so hopefully we should get some of our striped friends. Tight lines all

What an excellent day, sounds like you made the right call! The pictures are great...another Z-axis fan, I see (also love the Brodin ghost net). Sunday will probably find the rivers high, since the Still River is quite high as of right now. The Great Barrington gauge on the Hous is also on the way up. Sunday may be an off day for nymphing. Enjoy the salt, thanks for the report.

I hit one side channel for about 20 minutes while I was in the areas and took two Browns out of it. One was getting ready to spawn and the smaller one was in there to eat what was going to be dropping out of the larger females :

My 15 inch male, the one next to the net, was caught in one of the side channels. Side channels are getting a little more water now which is nice. Makes them a little more fishable now. ;D

The MDC just jacked up the water below the dam to 243 from 100cfs! Game on.

today and tomorrow those areas that were mentioned in previous posts will be stacked with nice sized trout!!! However.... I will be somewhere where the trout that I am fishing for can eat a 20 inch fish

I hit the river today and caught a bunch, everything subsurface. Here's my big fish of the day:

The new reel was flawless. I also saw a pair of bald eagles, always a thrill.
