Yesterday at Dunnfield Creek

Hey all,

I drove up and fished Dunnfield Creek yesterday had a great day lots of wild fish, strong and healthy! Water was way down from the last time I fished it the holes were much bigger and deeper. Lots of pocket water the fish were much more scattered this time than last time.

I caught fish on Humpy's, Stimulator's, and Wullf's but I did see Caddis and Sulphurs coming off. I don't know what the water temp was but it won't be long and you could wet wade the stream no problem. I didn't see any fishing actively feeding on anything that was hatching but I normally don't in that type of water.

I caught mostly Browns and did have a couple of Brookies but didn't get any Rainbows this trip nor the elusive Tiger trout that is supposed to be up there. All in all a nice day on the water with lots of wild fish.

Excellent. I love wild fish. Small, large, whatever. I'm living vicariously through fishing reports right now as I am finishing up a huge project and have time for nothing but tying flies in my hotel room Monday through Friday and I am LOADED with non fishing weekend commitments for two weekends. Please keep the reports and nice pictures coming.

Hey Halliday,

I'm sorry to hear about you being swamped especially when the weather is so nice, I beat your schedule would be clear if there was two feet of snow on the ground and the temps hovering in the teens!
So what have you been tying anything and everything? At least when you do get out there your fly box will be stocked and you can plan your trip!

Tying flashback pheasant tails, weaving up some polish nymphs, Rubberlegs, and a new-ish fly that I'll post once I'm sure I can catch fish on it. I had two weeks off recently to decompress after a huge effort on a Southern NJ jobsite and now I'm back at it for a while. My wife is cool with me just going fishing days and/or nights for two weeks straight. The same for skiing. If its dumping I'm AWOL.

Hey Aaron gotta make a trip with my best friend Mike, we decided together it would be worth checking into, and my daughter first before the water gets to low and warm. I was really surprised at how much the water level had dropped even though we had a couple days of rain.

I probably won't fish it during July & August when it gets really hot I don't think the fish would recover well if the water gets too warm. Let me know if your still interested in the fall maybe we could get together.
