    Had to go fish for a little while this evening... I can't help myself ;D I got to the river at about 6:30. I did not go to the Gorge today. I fished above it. I could not believe the amount of silt that has gotten into the river. Everywhere you looked you saw sand. Places where there were rocks and water are now sandy beaches. They are building too much upstream and the sediments are not cared for and allowed to run into the river. This is destroying nymph and fish habitat. It is very disturbing to see this on your "home" stream. You would usually see good isonychia activity this time of year but all I saw were a few olives and larger light cahills. I landed two browns, one was wild and the other was a holdover and lost another... they were the only three fish coming up! I caught them all on a size 12 cahill spinner. I hope that some of the proper authrities are notified of this. I am going to give the DEP a call this week. NJ has this great trout stream and it is getting destroyed to put up a few "large" homes.

    Btw.... I saw a few really large recently stocked trout milling about. One of the trout was at least two feet long. None of the fish wanted anything to do with my offerings. Shannon's fly shop stocked the area with about 300? larger trout and one giant one, so go get em! They are having a contest with some good prizes. I think thay are having a raffle for a Bauer fly reel as well, so stop by there and get the exact details if you are in the area.

    Hey buddy, sounds like good time !

    That's too bad about the overwhelming amount of sediments that are washing down the river. I hope the DEP can act upon that and do something to solve and rehabilitate the problem.
