Good luck and tight lines 8). Wish I could be there. You've got some great fishing down that way. I hope the weather cooperates and you have a great day.
The early season opens this Saturday in the southeast region of Pennsylvania. I will be amongst the throng fishing the Bushkill and although I know a few spots that are ignored by most I think its going to be "interesting" to say the least. I just hope we get decent weather, I really hate fishing in cold rain.

I mourn the "First Day" in PA. I get it, I understand the need for management, the stocking etc.... but the whole "bagging your limit", killing all you catch, tons of litter, impoliteness, stuff I could do without. But I get it.
I generally stick to the spec reg areas. There will be few in there for a few weeks yet.
Standing in moving water circulates the soul and quiets the mind.
I think PA should get rid of opening day period there is no need for it it just creates a madness that we don't need . I'm sure that there would be a lot less of people posting their land if they didn't have to deal with all the problems that come with opening day .
I agree. Everyone from the northern counties come here and pound the streams and them go home to wait for their opening day. If I get a chance, I will walk the Bushkill to see what is happening but I will not fish it.
I'm no fan of the whole PA opener. It's a circus to say the least. I would love to see more special regs water, and more long term efforts to improve the quality of the fish. I haven't killed a trout in 25 years. No interest in taking them. I'm not against it. If it's legal, and one likes to take them I support their rights. I'm a believer in slot limits though. Along with fly/artificial only waters and delayed harvest. I spent a couple hours Sunday on the little mahoning project near Rochester Mills. Landed 4 and rolled 1. I see nothing wrong with no kill projects open year round. There are so many options available to us I can't see any reason for the opening day fracus. Incidently, the "Green Weenie" did the trick Sunday. Tried the Hares Ear,Pheasent tail and Bead head Prince to no avail.

I'm kind of lucky in that I have some private property that I'm allowed to fish. I do go to the heavily fished areas and try to clean up a little after the slobs leave.

Looks like the water is going to be fast and furious Saturday. Maybe it will discourage some of the masses.
