    Hend-a-Coq Soft Hackle Wet Fly

Here's a new pattern that I came up with that I want to try when I fish during Hendrickson & Iso time. I call this fly the Hend-A-Coq wet fly. Like my Hunny Bunny I just sat down at my vise and pulled out some materials that I really thought would go together and work well catching fish. I am adding this fly to this years flies that I will be field trialing to see when and where they work and if it will be repeatable in catching fish year after year (Which I think Will). Here's the pattern:

    Hend-A-Coq

    Hook: Mustad 3906 size 8
    Thread: Danville 6/0 Gray
    Body: Uni Stretch Wine
    Ribbing: Silver Oval Tinsel Small
Upper Thorax: Hendrickson Nymph Rabbit Dubbing
Collar: Coq de Leon Hen Cape

    Sincerely

I tie and use a similar concept for the Isonychias. I use grey hen hackle tail, grey soft hackle up front but my body is two wires. One is black and the second wire is "wine" colored. Wrap the wires together for an alternating effect that I think matches Iso s better, at least where I fish in Michigan. I am sure your pattern will be effective also.

    Fontinalis,

Nice flies as always. I especially liked your Walker and Claret Gnat, and your W3 is intriguing.

Bergman's, Trout was one of the first books I ever bought on fishing. A pattern from ages ago that caught me quite few late season trout this year was the Parmachene Belle. Fished in tandem with other less colorful flies, it seemed to be a real brookie magnet. Picked up the occasional brown and rainbow too....
