    Streamflex 5wt?

I know how popular the streamflex 10' 3 and 4wt rods are, I have a 4wt myself that I use mostly for euro and indicator nymphing. I'm wondering if anyone uses the 9' 5wt for dries? Any feedback about the rod itself? I know a tool is only as good as the craftsman using it, but in comparison to some of the other popular (and significantly more expensive) 9' 5wts, how does this one stand up?
I really like the price point for the streamflex line of rods, and my wife is letting me get some new hardware for Christmas this year.

    Thanks!

To be honest it is only a rod l favor to use for fishing streamers or fishing very high water levels with great weight.
The 3 and 4 will do all else you need.
The 5wt has a very different action to those rods.

    Davy,
Thanks for your response! I guess that surprises me a little bit, I keep reading that the most popular rod for drys is a 9' 5wt, but obviously, they're not all created equal. Would you happen to know anything about the Demon 9' 5wt? The shop also had one of those at about the same price point, but I haven't read much about the demon line of rods, the streamflex seems to be much more popular.

    Thanks!

Yes, for sure there is no equal so far as 5wt rods from different manufacturers and for that matter any other given wt rod.
For example compare a Sage XLT with a Sage TCR both 9ft 5wts, there is no comparison, the TCR is what l use for distance casting events, it has no use for fishing 5/6 x tippets and small flies, it will in fact handle a 7wt line easily, simply a casting machine.

Not as yet handled the Demon myself so cannot comment here about that one. Aaron may have handled it.

If it is a price point you are looking for then TFO offer some very good 5wt rods well below $300.

    Davy.

    Thanks Davy, appreciate the input!
I'm hoping to try and get out there and cast these two rods, and I'll look into some of TFO's offerings.
(I already have a 10 wt TFO Jim Teeny rod I use for saltwater surf FF, which has worked out real well for me so far.)
