    south holston day 2

Today we were flying solo w/o Rod but we did get an awesome streamer tying lesson from him in the morning. I've never seen anything like his streamers in any store. The more time we spend with him the more, we can see that he is by far the real deal. Aaron says HRO WILL be carrying them soon. Aaron says, forget about those deerhead flies. Nymphing was awesome as usual and whipping those streamers out eighty feet is awesome. It was a lot of fun to watch Aaron load up on his rod and lay that line out. Aaron rowed be through a deep pool where I hooked up with a sixteen incher, a baby out here, and on my next retrieve I watched one twice the size follow it my streamer ten feet away from the boat and hit it five feet away. I got to excited and pulled the fly away right when he hit it. Steamer fishing is a lot of fun, its no more a numbers game, it's a size game. Tomorrow we 're gunna do it all over again. Friday is gunna be another day with Rod, and he say we have'nt seen anything yet, what we're will learn it going to blow our minds.
Side note, we say a trout that was no smaller than twenty pounds chasing a 12 incher out of the water. Aaron was speechless. I was pretty cool. We're gunna try for him tomorrow, we know where he is now.

"Aaron says, forget about those deerhead flies" What? I can't wait to hear about or see the new streamers. Thanks for the reports, sounds like a whole other class of fishing for big trout.

That sucks! Sorry to hear the bad news Aaron. Was your gear taken out of your car? If so, I can relate. Back in '92, on my way to Montana, I had the passenger side window of my Bronco II smashed in downtown Chicago. I stopped to visit a friend who was going to school at the U of C. The car with loaded with most of my belongings as I was going to be in MT all summer. The only thing taken from my car was my coffee maker and my vest. Some gangbanger in Chi-town started a new trend when he was sporting my vest around the hood.

I hope my story made you smile or smirk for a second. I know you must want to kill someone right now.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and then release it, he might starve but we can catch the fish again tomorrow.

    Aaron,

Oh no...that's truly terrible! Let me know if you need to borrow anything when you return to the NE. Sorry to hear that.

thanks guys ... i am actually not very upset about the rods. however its the flies that were taken that bother me. i wish that they could have left the boxes ;D however.... the people that broke into the truck took only FLY FISHING items. this means that it is one of our own group of people. what is going on with this sport? i also spoke to a sales rep today and he said that fishing type burglaries are on a major rise. people are stealing fly rods out of beach buggies all of the time as well as out of roof racks. what is very strange about this is that there is more respect for each of us fly fisherman out west. all of the guides cars out west are unlocked and keys hidden and this type of crime does not happen. also i would not be as upset if some of the other expensive items in the car were missing. there were other things in there as valuable as the rods but they were not touched??? they even took 100 packs of hooks??? i think that this was very planned out. they must have spent at least 20 minutes in the car. hey ... look at the bright side they could have taken the car!!!

also, i did want to upgrade all of my rods to the new z axis from sage i just didnt want to HAVE to do it. however, i have to give major applause to the sage and ross rep for "bailing" me out and getting me rods to use till the new ones come. brad if you read this thanks and i appreciate your help and i will stand by any product that you represent because i know that it is the best.

I'm sorry to hear about that brother. That is something that I always think about every time I park with equipment in the truck. We all work damn hard for that stuff and it isn't cheap. Losers that steal are always going to be there it just especially sucks when they take part of your job/passion. Glad to hear the reps at sage and ross can help ya. Did you contact shops in the area to be on the look out for people trying to sell used stuff?
