Went out sat morn with a fishing buddy on the Farmington. We figure we would started out in the C&R TMA by the PV drive-in and work our way down to greenwoods if not too crowded.
Arrived at 7:30am still fog above the water. Decided to nymph awhile until the sun breaks through. Not much action on nymphs, micro nymphs, or streamers. Moved our way down to the hole just above greenwoods, because greenwoods was packed with people just as the sun was breaking through. Some small bugs were coming off the water but very little surface activity by the fish. My buddy was down river about 40 yds working the lower portion of the hole where he seen two trout sipping some flies. I was working the top part of the hole which is rapids with my nymphs.
I caught two browns 14-16 inch range. The 14" had marks on the top and side like a bird tried pick it out the water. White Zonker was the ticket.
Shortly thereafter, some yo yo came down the hill and walked halfway across the river to fish the other side, walking through some great water between myself and my buddy, to fish 10 yds above my buddy where there were some sipping trout. Needless, to say that whole hole was skunked after that. Stupidness has no bounds is all I said to my fishing buddy.
We then headed down to the Lower TMA which is also C&R area this time of year. I hooked two more browns on the zonker. My buddy switched to nymphing and caught three just before noon. Wind picked up even in the corner bend that formed a little canyon.
Called it day to go work with John Deere on the property.
