    Catskills are Hurting!

I went out and did some driving around the Catskills on Opening Day. We've been hammered with rain the last couple of weeks, and every river looks like rapids. I was in the Neversink Gorge and couldn't believe where the water levels were. The banks were non - existent, you couldn't see any of the VW size boulders that were down there and I almost expected a white water rafting group to come barreling down. I did manage 2 small browns in some slack water along the shore at one of my usual spots, but the damage is remarkable. There is one large bend in particular, that doesn't seem to exist anymore, the current has come over the shore and washed a good deal of it away. I'll keep you guys updated as things thin out.

A quote from our good friend Forrest Gump.

    "It happens."
    "What happens?"
    "Sh*t."
"I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering trout."

Troutastic - this definitely qualifies for Forrest Gump level Sh*t.

Frank, Brandon said it looks like mudslides all over the place, the stream has completely carved out areas in the mud. This isn't good at all. Reports are that it's running like yoohoo, might be out of commission for a good part of the season. The rivers just can't take another huge storm this year, could be devastating.

No worries , this stream has been flooding for years and always comes back. I remember the train on 28 was under water a few years back. I bet it will be fine in a few weeks. Good news is we have tons of streams in our area to fish! I'm going somewhere Monday

It always amazes me how much a stream changes year to year, especially if it has been a while since I have been there. Streams change and change their course too.

Flooding is one thing but metric tons of dirt is another. Looks like news footage from a 3rd world country.
