Pequest... The Good and Bad

I rushed out of work today to meet Tom to head over to the Pequest. We got to the river at about 2:30. A man was at his truck being very nice, but I knew that something was up. I walked onto the bridge and there he was with a worm container in his pocket and a "crawler" on the end of his line. Maybe he thought that the Vladi Worm is really bait

Anyway, I called the hatchery and within 5 minutes a game warden was on the scene!! What a great job NJF&W. I hope that they caught the guy. He asked for a description of the guy. I showed him a few pics and he said, "good enough."

Anyway, the fishing was good. The fish were hammered pretty good before we got there, but we mangaged to catch plenty. Everything from midges to eggs to a Vladi took fish.

Why can't people just play by the rules? I just don't get it! I am glad the warden got out there so quickly. I have the PBFC on speed dial but when ever I call, I have to leave a message. The best we can do is to report, confront, and be aware I guess. Good job Aaron.

An update on the bait guy...

I spoke the the officer today at the river. Believe it or not, but he had FOUR worm containers on him!!! One in each of his pockets, and two more in his waders!! He tried all the excuses! It went from, I wasn't using them, to I wanted to feed the fish! The last and best one was, he is a law enforcement officer... Well actually a security guard! He got his ticket and was sent on his way! He even had the nerve to ask for his worms back...
