Speaking of streamer fishing, I was fishing the Little Red yesterday and had an awesome day. Towards the end, I was fishing the tailout of a deep pool when I saw a 30+ inch brown come out of the water and disapear, almost like dolphins do except I think he was dining on poor little rainbows. Of course I had my 5wt with me. Tied on a big 5 1/2" articulated olive beast, didn't catch the leviathan, but did manage 2-13" bows on that fly. I couldn't believe it! I saw him then a second time, I think just to tease me a little more. There sure a some brutes in that system!

I don't think I have a problem BUT I do strip a couple of big streamers just before I give up on a deeper hole. Not always, not even many times, BUT sometimes I end up fooling one of the bigger ones lurking in there that was not temped by the smaller flies tried earlier in the hunt.

I wish I could say that, not so much. Have you ever heard a story where that works? Someone sees a huge fish hunting smaller trout and they actually hook them? Everything has to be in your favor, and be your lucky day!

Most of the fish I have ever hooked on a streamer, I never saw until the last couple of seconds. Like out of the deep or shooting out from under a bank I didn't notice. I have very very rarely got a trout that I targeted. Bass on the other hand, several times.

Still trying to figure out why they didn't use my name in that article.... : Nothing like feeling a mid-strip strike of a big-shouldered brown from the depths.... 8)
