We definately need video of that! I am guilty of the same thing, leaving zippers open but never had to do a scramble like that.
While fishing ovation this week I was wading nearly up to my chest . I forgot to close one of the pouches that hold my fly boxes. I am old school so I still use a vest. I turned around to look down stream and saw my fly box bobbing down stream. I began the great down stream fly box race and chased my box by running along the shore and wadding . I finally caught up with my box below the 318 bridge. I was wiped out . I am 62 years old but I am claiming the record for the longest fly box chase unless someonelse has a better story.

Kyle - You are right about the bridge. I am from eastern ct so my geography is no good west of the Ct river.
My buddy and I were fishing the "Catt" one last time for a couple steelies a few weeks ago. At the head of a very long and deep run he tried to cross to get a better shot at some holding fish. Well... he crossed just at the wrong spot and a combination of waste deep rushing water and loose gravel underfoot sent him swimming. Luckily he "went with it" and hit the inside seam because the outside backeddy had an ugly angler eating look to it. After a full minute of doggie back pedaling he hit the shore and we started to take stock of gear. Everything accounted for excpet....one fly box. If you've fished the Catt you know you can see sometimes miles in both directions. Almost a football field away I saw something glimmering in the sun and off I went running.
wwelz: That has got to be at least a half a mile run. You overcame alot of obstacles to get down there. Did you continue to fish after that or call it a day?
so did you get the box dejon?

The C&F boxes have a place to tie a string and tether them to your vest.
Sorry, had to take the kiddo to school. Yes, I headed off the box right before it hit another long riffle/pool set. Needless to say it highlighted a need to stop smoking the bit that I do![]()
This seems like as good a place to jump in as any. I was fishing penns about a month ago. I pulled out a compartment box full of heavy stones. (about 4 dozen) . It all happened quick but somehow while opening, the bottom of the box detached from the lid. Next thing I know I was standing waist deep in a fast riffle watching the bottom half of my box float down stream, with my flies scattered who knows where. The moral of the story is, "when fishing penns creek carry your stones in two boxes"
