I don't need info, but man, some of those creeks are awesome out there! Started fishing there 3 seasons ago, and I will gladly drive the 7.5 hrs to get there... right past the Salmon river and Oak Orchard. The things I like about it are that #1, the fishing can be awesome, and #2 all the choices you have. The only thing I wish is that the Catt was a little friendlier - flow-wise. Didn't get to fish it last year

What type of rig do you use out there, Flythrower? What's the best time of year, pressure wise and fish run wise?

Fish start trickling in late September or early October (depending on the rivel levels and temps), the best fishing IMO is beggining of November. The winter can be great fishing if you can find open water and brave the unprebdictable Lake Effect Weather of WNY. Spring time dropbacks and freshies are my favorite time of the year to fish!!


As for set up, I use a 10 foot 8 wght Sage FLi and Mid- Arbor Battenkill and do a lot of dead drifting. In the fall when the water is stil fairly warm, I will do nothing but swing flies, but as the water gets cold and the fish slow down, I am all about dead drifting egg patterns and nymphs, Springtime thaws have me still fishing egg patterns and nymphs, but as the water warms up again it is streamers and spey flies....

Sucker Spawn and Hairballs are the eggs of choice out this way..
