has anyone been out to the little j at spruce creek recently? Im thinkin about making a trip out there this weekend or possibly spring creek. Any suggested patterns?
Kaz wrote this about Spring Creek. He is a damn good fisherman so heed his word.
Just thought I would pass along conditions and a brief report for Spring Creek. Fished it yesterday and it was at prime level. That should hold true through the weekend. Limestone green to starting to clear at end of day. Water temp hit 42 in th p.m. Fishing was also very good with the normal prospects for limestoners this time of year: PT, Cress Bug, WWorm, and baetis nymph.
I was at the Little J a few weeks ago and the usual fly patterns worked well there: Small bwo nymphs, cased caddis, cranefly larvae and egg patterns.
The water has been quite high lately so when it comes down below 400 cfs it should be pretty good.
Little J was pretty high last week but I just checked and it was below 600, should be good flows this weekend. I fished spring yesterday and did well (good flow, ~45deg), with the Vladi worm being the #1 producer. Tied on an olive woolly bugger at the end of day and got an immediate response as well, missing a decent brown, so maybe give that a try as well as the patterns already mentioned if you go there.
I have been fishing the LJ a few times a week prior to the runoff we recieved last week. The fishing has been pretty good to me this winter. Green weenies, sulfur nymphs, small pt's, bright green caddis pupae, and small egg patterns have been by far my most consistent producers.
