    Re: William Joseph Equinox

    Kierrin,

I started using the confluence this year and would not wear a vest again.

I really like it for several reasons.

    1. It is very comfortable to wear. My back no longer bothers me at end of day and it is alot easier to take off then my vest. Ive used at least half a dozen vests

    2. I am better organized and carry the essentials rather then a lot of just in case you might need it stuff. My C&F box is in the front with 2 middle inserts. I add the stuff I might need for river or time of year in the back.

    3. the fold down flap in front is a good place to rest a fly box.

If you have to carry a lot of stuff and have easy access to it in the front it is not for you.

I have the Confluence as well and I love it. I usually try to fit everything in my waders/wader pocket. However, if I am going to be needing multiple flyboxes the Confluence holds more than I originally thought. The front pack holds 2 large C and F boxes and the backpack section holds a ton of sh--. There is also a fly patch on the inside of the front pack so you can put the flies that you are going to use in advance on the patch. You will like the Confluence. Also, it's not too bulky like some of the others.

I am a big fan of WJ. I own the access and the confluence, I love the access but I am not a huge fan of the confluence, it feels like I'm wearing body armour (just my opinion). The access however is a great chest pack, one of my favorites, holds everything I need, and because of it's design it's small and compact yet it carries a lot of stuff. The fishpond waterdance is a great product too.

Kierran: ditto from me regarding the WJ confluence. I love its design and efficiency. Some of the "features" (tippet holder is not useful, zingers are cheap) are silly, so I cut them off. In front, I carry one large C&F box, two small ones, my shot, my Mucilin and a chapstick. The little pocket in the very front is sized to hold 6 tippet spools. The little hydration zippers on the side can hold indicators or float/sinkets. I keep leader building, sighters and miscellaneous flies in back. There is more than enough room for paclite rain jacket or camera too. Finally, I keep my licenses in a waterproof bag in the rearmost pocket. It is a great pack!

Kierran: the pack has a slim strap that sits horizontally for hanging your net. Since I use the big Brodin Pere Marquette, I don't hang my net, but instead stick the handle in my wading belt. I like the longer reach net for nymphing with the 10ft rods (and for landing big fish!).

    Kierran,

There is a plastic loop on top of the rear pack you could clip it to. I do not use net very often.

    Where are you located?
