Got to check some of these out at the show

The streamflex 10' 3 and 4 wt are pretty sweet. I think i'm going to be picking one up pretty soon.

    Aaron,

you have it in the three weight correct?

I am thinking the 4wt due to being a little better for both wetflies and nymphing? would you agree in that idea? 3wt just seems to light for working wets.

i think it's probably the best deal for a good 10 foot rod going right now.

I have not picked up one of the loon rods though, so i'm not sure how good they feel in comparison.

Definitely better than the 10ft 5wt tfo though.

I checked yesterday and the 4wt 10ft Loon rods are sold out now. It looks like they have it until you try and check out.

The Loon rod is dreadfully awful. If I wanted a rod to double as a wet fly/nymph rod I would get the four weight.
Also, I casted another Greys rod (can't remember the name), it was stellar! The rod was a tip flex and handled great amounts of line in the air. It would be an ideal dry fly rod for mid to long range casting. The rod was also very light in the hand.

OK now my Income tax is going towards at least two rods now. I am sick..

How would you guys descried the action of this rod there is no shop near me that handles them. If i bought one it would be strictly on your recommendations and chances are i would get it shipped from HRO if possible.

    Flyfisher:
The Grey's Streamflex is a moderate action rod. This means it has a sensitive tip and protects lighter tippets. It might not be the best choice for roll casting with an indicator.

    RipnLips:
I have the Loon 10ft 4wt. As Aaron said, I really don't like it much, as it is quite tip heavy. It might be suitable as a backup wet fly rod. For a slightly higher price point, I love the Temple Fork 10ft 5wt.

I will probably get the 10ft 3wt Greys as my next rod, unless I can find a suitable alternative. I would sort of like to get an 11ft rod. I have been building leaders for long line Euro nymphing that are sort of custom made for the Grays rod.

    Thanks Alan.

Yeah i am not looking to indicator fish with it mostly long/shortline nymphing Euro style and some wetflies on the bigger water I fish. Do you have an idea if it would be a useable rod for roll casting wets?
