I use a smaller strike indicator made of yarn. I also use #4 and 6 tin shot. Mostly this nymphing requires an upstream presentation. I have short distances between my indicator and weights. most of the time 2-3 feet in that situation for quick strike detection.

I am going to try again tomorrow after detention (not my detention but for 4-6 grade ). i will try some of the more shallow water.

Can a rainbow warrior imitate midge pupas?

And Rocko - I think I may be back in the Valley Creek Sat. have you been in that one?

Lance's Rainbow Warrior, although I do not feel he intends it to imitate a midge pupae, is a terrific micronymph pattern especially where rainbows and cutts live. He cleans house with it.

If the fish are hard on ascending pupae, then it's very shiny effects may be just what the doctor ordered. If they aren't the fly will get noticed which I think is often the most important feature when lots of food is about.

Detention must be like watching paint dry. How far from the stream do you live? We tried that at my school and the kids were torturing the teachers so we quit it lol.

Looks like the construction is nearly identical to the WD-40 - just different materials.

I've been to Valley twice. Once it was like yoohoo and the other time I caught a few small trout on BWO's in the late fall. It is a cool place to hang out though, I fished in the Valley Forge Park section. Glad you had some success with your new fly sholgate. From talking to folks it seems like the Tully gets real pressure, so light and small will be the ticket as the season moves on. Detention works if the Teachers get paid. The volunteer style lasts about three sessions.

Yeah I work in an urban area. The teachers volunteered to do it. The admin never followed through on their promises to discipline the kids so it was abandoned.

Sitting in detention right now. Pink Floyd is rolling through my head over and over again. I hope to be in the Tully within 30 minutes of now. Thank God for my fortress of solitude!
