Orvis Silver Label Hy-Flote Flyline

Is this line any good? I need a steelhead line. Their Wonderline Steelhead is $69, this is on sale for $25 (normally $45). Any thoughts??

i dont know anything about orvis fly lines. however i am pretty sure that they are made by cortland. hey for 25 bucks you should give it a go. thats a good enough price to make trying it worth it. if you are looking for a line that is very slick you might be better off with a rio orf sa line. you can even try the rio nymph line if you are going to fish for steelhead. it is a very good line and floats very high on the surface. sa makes a very similar line that is a little more stealthy. i actually like the orange tip on the rio line. it helps with mending. also, the line has a welded loop onto the end which makes it unsinkalble.
btw what kind of rod do you plan on using for the steelies. that will make a little bit of different. also, are you going to strike indicator fish or tight line with lots of weight?

I have a 9' Cortland GRX 7/8 that I want to use as a backup for Salmon season also. Was planning on getting an WF8F line for dual use.

Brand new to steelhead fishing. Just learned the salmon game last fall with a guide on the Salmon River. We were sight fishing in 3' water, using a lightly weighted big gaudy streamer, on a down and across swing.

Not quite sure what style I will settle on....I like traditional more than slinging lead.

I am hoping to hit the LOSA seminar at the end of April to learn some techniques.

i heard that the losa seminar is really good. is fran verdaliva doing it agan this year? if so he is a great resource for steelhead fly fishing. he will show you the right ways to get them ;D

Ive been using the silver label floater since march...its a nice line. floats good...casts great and at $45 you cant go wrong.
