For Salmon I feel it really does'nt matter. They will all be dead in a few weeks any way. I don't even bother to release them as they usually roll back down stream dead from the battle.If they are really dark and not well suited for table fare I still keep them. My dogs like any Salmon in their bowls. Just a good ol' net will suffice.

For Steel i reccomend a rubber net as these fish return to the lakes after spawning. I've caught way too many Steelies with a bad eye from the obvious knotted nets in the past few years.

I also reccomend a shorter handle for packing and carrying sake.Long handles in good currents are a real pain to manipulate. I think something with a hoop around 24in dia. should be good.
