Little green sailboats on 11Mile

Got to the river at a bankers hour of about 10:30. Ok its April, almost May...it was 29 deg and snow flurries on and off with a howling wind...great@#$#@#@$.
Started off nymphing a couple riffles and pocket with some good success on Rojo Midges and Flashback Mercury Rs2's both in a size 22. fished up about a quarter mile using this with actually really good success using indicator methods. I think the Mojo Mud helped me place the flys more accurately than what I might have done using euro methods in that wind...started shivering, I mean really shivering around 1pm. got to the bank sat down and had a little almost frozen water and a power bar. Changed out my rig because the one I was using was beat up..its been on for 4 successive outings and the lower parts needed work...put on a brand new nymphing leader but wait....blip ..against the far bank, hadnt seen any duns while nymphing but all of the sudden...against the far bank I could see sails...cool. Changed the leader again...to a dry style rig. Put on a trusty #22 Cannon Bunny Dun. waded slowly and carefully into a position where I could make a reasonable presentation...the wind then came roaring through and f*cked up the first try...second try was closer but not in the spot...held tight until the wind took a break and placed the fly exactly where I wanted...slurp! Gorgeous 18" brown took it! Brought it to net and tried for his brother about 15 feet down the bank...to be continued.

Way to go Bob, you weren't the only one who ventured out in this crappy weather. The Blue was similar conditions when I went on Friday, snow flurries, and cold!

I finally tied up some Jujubees in sizes 22-24 and used those all day, olive and black worked awesome. I got to the river at about 10:30 as well, and lo and behold, there were adult midges covering the banks. Rising fish everywhere! I didn't have any midge dries so I just used the smallest Adams I had in a 20. I trailed the Adams with the Jujubees and got fish on both. Then the adults subsided and I went back to just nymphing. I'll be going out tomorrow (Monday) maybe to the Arkansas, I haven't decided yet, I may just head down to Shale Hole and work my way up again.

Did you see any pike or pike carcasses along 11 mile???

I swung by Blue Quill Angler today to get a couple things...Pat Dorsey just ordered 6 dozen Jujubee baetis and 6 dozen mercury flashback rs2...hmmmmm what to tie.
