Hi Aaron,
Your site was recommend to me by Rob O'neil, who I met this weekend during a youth fishing camp in Roscoe NY. I am researching steelhead rods and I was wondering if you have a recommendation on a good blank. I am leaning towards a 10ft 7wt, with a slower action. They few times I steelhead fished, it was with a guide and they used 10ft 7wts with slower actions which felt more sensitive than the fast action rods I use for trout. Others I have talked to also say to avoid an expensive fast action rod because they lack the sensitivity needed to get a good drift. I generally dead drift flies along the bottom feeling for the tap tap tap of the weight. Is it true that a slow action rod is better for steelhead, and is there a certain blank you recommend. I am leaning towards a Jim Teeny TFO rod, but haven't had an opportunity to test one yet. Thanks for your help and I love the site.

I own the TFO Deer Creek 11 foot 7 weight. I love the rod and anyone who has borrowed it has liked it as well. I do mostly indicator style fishing for the steelhead.
