Bushkill Creek, Easton PA

I took a walk to Easton yesterday to fish a couple spots in the Bushkill. Hardly anyone was fishing there. The first spot I hit was just above the last dam where the riffle flows into a stretch of slack water. There is a deep run that runs along the steep bank. Fish were rising here and there and I took one on a gray winged caddis. Unfortunately, a spin fishereman saw the catch and moved into position about 15 feet downstream from me. I kept casting though and saw a rise about 10 feet in front of where this guy was throwing. I let my fly drift down to that spot and wham, hooked and landed a nice stockie brown. The spin fisher got mad and left,,,,,lol. Took one more in the tailwater of the next dam upstream, another stockie brown but got him on a flashback BH pheasant tail. Too hot to fish today after work, but gonna try the little creek on Tuesday. Rubberlips, there is a 20 inch bow in that spot where I asked you to suggest how to approach. I almost had him Friday but I jumped the gun and set the hook too soon.

I would like to explore some of those streams North East of me like the Bushkill and I have only been to the Lil Lehigh once.

The lack of tact from some fishermen astounds me. Rather than being upset about catching he wasn't I am sure he was confounded when you released him. "Oh, he's one of THOSE guys". Sounds like you had a nice day.

It is funny, I seen one other fisherman Friday on the brandywine. It was an older man, he waded all the way from above me around a bend, with his rod hooked up. Waded all the way down to me through the middle of the creek, walked up to me asked me how I was doing and if I caught anything, I told him what I had caught, he asked on what, I told him, he unhooked his fly cut it off tied on what I told him I caught the fish on and started peeling out line and walked up next to me and started cast over my fish! Told him to have a good one and left. It's not just the younger guys on our rivers that have no ethics.

the part of the Bushkill that I have been fishing is probably the farthest thing from your mind when you think of a trout stream. It runs through an area where there are a lot of factories, both running and shutdown. Lots of reminders in the water as well (concrete pipe, tires, railroad ties) that this was once a very highly industrialized area of the state. There are some real monsters in there though, I saw one yesterday in the shallow riffles that had to push 25 inches, Never expected to see him there, in fact I almost stepped on him he was so close.

I have fished in storm drains. Don't be too sure.

I'm the guy that actually reads the B & C class streams lists and visits. I have been happy to find trout in many "fishless" streams. Kudos to you.
