Farmington river tma

i had to take the guys from the nymph clinic to the farmington due to the high water at the housatonic. when we got to the church pool parking lot it looked like a park and lock in manhattan not a fishing access. there were over 25 people fishing in church pool. while showing the people at the clinic how to nymph i caught on really nice trout of about 18 inches. i think that the slot that i got the fish out of was one of the only ones that didnt get waded through that day. the greenwoods had about ten guys fishing there. the boneyards had almost ten people in there. there were even people on the other side. it was like opening day. they really need to extend the tma so that the people can be spread out over a greater area and increase angler satisfaction. i heard today that 70 percent of the anglers surveyed are in favor of more c anr r but yet the dep does not take this into account. they go with the 30 percent that want to keep fish. more tma would make for better fishing for everyone.

Fished the TMA yesterday. Did well in the late am to early afternoon. Big golden stone fly nymphs were about in the water #6. I landed 20 incher on a golden stone. Was REALLY PISSED. Batteries in camera went. NOT HAPPY. Landed another 17 inches on a hendrickson nymph. Foul hooked and landed two others around the same size. Lots of BWO, baetis on the water along with midges and some stones. Not a big numbers day but the quality of fish were MINT.....................

Have fun at the Zoo today guys, I'm hitting a secret place today.....I will let you know how she fishes later...If you want some breathing room, I wouldnt fish the farmington today, it will be a repeat of yesterday....if not worse...

Not fishing today. It's a family day but good luck Rich. Yesterday later in the day was a zoo. It's really getting rediculous on the Farmington. Too small of a river for the amount of people that fish it. I love the Housy and the Farmington both. The Housy a little more. One of the reasons is that even with crowds, you can always seem to find a stretch of water to yourself, maybe another angler or two on the Housy. That's nice. I fine the key to the Farmington during the busy months is to get there early and get to the stretch you want to fish. Then, STAY THERE. As the day goes on, people flock to the river and hit all the other spots. If you leave, chances are you'll lose your stretch of water and good luck getting to another stretch that no one has fished over or walked through. This is hard for someone who likes to cover a lot of water in a day. However, I find that moving from hole to hole is easier to do from late November thru mid to late March. Aside from those months, the river sometimes looks like a fishing derby at the hatchery.
