Well...maybe. The reality is if you are going to be doing a lot of short line nymphing...the line really won't make a difference. However, if you are looking to build a versatile rig and may switch to dry or dry dropper or even streamer fishing...a different line may be the route to go....
Never easy.
I don't do a lot of dry fly fishing, unless it is on small streams.
If I streamer fish, I have a sink tip on a different rod that I will use.
If I were using one rod and one line, my preference would be for a DT, again that is what I learned with over a WF. Psychological reasons only. Plus the furthest I cast with line out of the rod is about 30 feet plus leader/tippet...so I can make a 40 to 45 foot cast.
If you are looking at longer distances, heavy flies (streamers) fish in super windy conditions...there might be a better line for you.
Sorry to add more questions that answers. Just giving my perspective from 20 years on the water. That plus a couple of bucks will get you a diet coke. :![]()
