Thread: Hendricksons.

    Hendricksons.

I know not all you guys tie, but no matter.
If it is a fly tied by someone else or a fly from the store no problem.

I am interested to know what are your favorite Hendrickson fly patterns be they nymphs, emergers, soft hackles, winged wets, duns and spinners.

So post your pics here if you will.

    Davy:

I'll see if I can post some pictures, but my two favorite hendrickson patterns are a nymph with SLF fiery brown blended with brown quick descent dubbing & wood duck flank tails and legs, and harold's parachute emerger pattern which is tied in reverse on a swimming nymph hook. Though, to be honest, given hendrickson's start coming off about an hour after the hatchery truck arrives, a ball of yarn is adequate in this neck of the woods.

I don't have a pic but I stick with the traditional pattern Light/Dark Duns.
Wood duck,muskrat/fox fur() and a shade of dun for hackle..I also tie a parachuting red quil, with a biot body of maroon...
Hatchery truck or not Hendrickson hatch is one of the best..
Now I WOULD BE VERY SURPRISED IF SOMEONE COULD NAME THE SECTION OF THE RIVER WERE THE FIRST HENDRICKSON'S WERE FISHED.. water temps of 50 and its go time!

Hi Davy........for the most part, I stick with tried and true patterns.....hare;s ear nymph, parachute duns, hackle spinners, etc.
Sometimes i think a "different" pattern than what everyone else is using can shift the odds to my favor so i tied and used a couple of these last year and they did produce well. It's an interesting pattern form UK tyer Roy Christie. [smg id=521]
I really want to use some wets more this next season....any suggestions?
    Thanks, Jason

my experience fishing the hendrickson hatch has been with the classic catskill style drys

however since ive started tying more, i'm planning on tying some of these up... i think they look pretty solid-

I realize that you were addressing Davy, but considering the present discussion, you might try a Dark Hendrickson

    Thread: Gray or Black
    Tail: Woodduck-dyed mallard flank, sparse.
    Body: Muskrat
    Beard: Dun Hen Hackle

    Snipe and Pheasant

    Hi Davy,
This one is plain and simple, but works very well where I fish.
