2010 Fly Lines- A few changes

I am in the market for a general purpose fly line for med to small trout streams in the east. I poked around the board and Arron and others seemed to really like the Rio Selective Trout which is not listed by that name on their new 2010 webpage. Now it is Trout LT and Gold and Grand and Indicator. Just wondering which one would be closest to the old Selective Trout. Thanks

The Trout LT is the line and it's even better than the old one! They sent me one to try out and it's killer.

You will love that line. I promise! I fish with that line 100 percent of the time that I fish wets and dry flies.

I appologize in advance for hijacking this thread but I'm going to do it anyway. What line matches up with the Greys 10' 3wt for the different euro nymphing techniques? Is there a better line for short line nymphing and one for the longer line nymphing techniques? Is there a line out there that will perform well in all applications? Thanks.

You can use this line in a 3 or 4 weight. The Greys rod actually casts quite well, which for a rod of that configuration is rare.

Interesting thoughts...including the offshore stuff...maybe worthy of its own thread. But why not Greys or TFO?
Plenty of US shops sell them. That money goes in their pockets does it not?

Trying to get back to talking about fly lines...would a DT of a WF handle better? Sorry for asking so many questions. Trying to get a handle on everything. I'm scraping together the cash to get the rod, want to make sure I have everything right for it.

What is your intended use? For example with a lot of the euro techniques your fly line is almost never out of the rod tip.

For most standard flylines there is little difference between wf or dt. But this is where it starts to get fuzzy and the manufacturers can be faulted for the confusion.

A real loose way of looking at it, a WF line will cast better at longer distances than a DT. Is it necessary for the type of fishing you will be doing? Only you can answer that.

I tend to use DT lines...why, that is what I was taught with. Plus I tend to not cast very far.
