I went to the Peq on Saturday. I just got my NJ license earlier in the week and thanks to BlackLabel for telling me some rivers. I got there around 0800 (got out of work at 0700 and headed straight down after a fueling and food run.) I threw a hares ear and pheasant tail in the first pocket I saw, pulled two out.

I walked up the river to some other spots, had a bit more luck.

I saw a total of four other guys there who had some luck as well. I really liked the river, despite the sketchy bottom I was wading through. They were killing hares ears, pheasant tails, and prince nymphs. It felt pretty good catching flies on the first flies I've ever tied (just started tying a week ago.)
I then headed down to the Raritan. I first fished about a mile upstream of the KLG in some pocket water. Hooked 3, landed 4 all within my first ten minutes while some bait fishermen weren't getting anything; I surely got their attention. Two were decent sized 'bows that were too camera shy. One pretty brown though.

Then I went to the KLG. No luck whatsoever for about an hour. I may've needed a heavier anchor fly (Nick, you got some money coming your way for those Vladi's!) I ended up taking a spill coming up the river. Ripped the new waders, too.
I did pull this out though...What is it? Shorthead redhorse? I wasn't sure about these weird warts/growths on it's head though.

Thanks NJ for a pretty damn good first time NJ fishing experience!
