Thanks for the review. Please remind me of how you are using this reel. On a 7 weight? Rio nymph line? I am planning to get one soon, it seems like an excellent value. Thanks.
I finally got to put my new Ross Rhythm 3.5 to the test last weekend while fishing for Steelhead and Kings on the Salmon River. What a difference from my last reel. I am ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that without the Rhythm, I wouldn't have been able to land those Steel. I alway pondered why it was necessary to spend a few hundred on a good reel, when, there were so many cheaper reels that "seemed" to do the same. I certainly found out the reason, and why it is necessary to have a great drag system when fighting serious fish. The Rhythm was able to fight the fish faster and broke off so much less, due to its adjustable drag. After a lot of fishing and intensity, the Rhythm held up to my greatest expectation. It took a lot of dunkings, and it never got scratched or dinged up during the entire day. The 3.5 was able to pick up a LOT of line real fast when a fish would dart in the opposite direction. I now know why it is essential to have such a great reel. I'm a big Ross fan as of lately. I've heard so much about their warranty and repair service also. It is also a very aesthetically pleasing reel. Two thumbs up at least!![]()

Alain, I've used this on a 7 wt, and also on my 6 wt. TiCr. Its not too big at all for the 6 wt, and I'm going to also try it on my 9 wt. too soon. Yes, Rio line. I've used both the Rio DC 200, and also Rio Nymph. I've spooled it with TONS of backing on the reel, and still it has room after the fly line. I know Aaron uses his Rhythm on his 7 wt, and I'm sure on other rods too (he uses a lot of Evolutions as you well know).
I'm really thrilled with the reel, and it is well, well worth the price, to say the least.

I also have the rhythm reel and cannot say enough about its value and versatility.
You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish.
You guys should check out Galvan Open Backs and Torques if you like ross reels. They're very nice as well.
I will take the Ross over the Galvan any day. I use mostly the Evolution, but my larger reel is the Rhythm 3.5. It handled the salmon with ease and put up with a 60 plus steelhead day no problem! You can even ask Justin, he is going to hove all Ross reels after using mine becauae they are so smooth. Also Ross has the best repair policy of any reel company. There is only a two day turn around. Which means send it one day on a Monday and you will have it to fish that next weekend.... NO OTHER COMPANY BEATS THAT! Also, I have not had one fail yet.
There are those who would say that the galvan torque is superior to any of the ross reels. I've never had to have a galvan repaired so I wouldn't know about the turnaround time, but I do know that when you deal with the company you are dealing with the galvan family themselves. They've answered many questions for me in the past. Also, I really can't imagine that a drag system can be smoother than that on my OB's. Line just peels off beautifully. But that's just my opinion, unbiased, unsponsored opinion. Hahaha!
When was the last time you caught something that pulled line off like a 20 pound salmon or a 14 pound steelhead?.... gotcha!
Pulling the line off to fish is one thing, but a fish pulling the line off is another!
BTW... I did owna Galvan, it was a good reel but in my opinion not as good as the Ross Reels or even the Lamson.
When we gonna see an arkansas pig?
