The Rainbows we have such fun with on the Housatonic

As I sit back and reflect on the great fishing this weekend. I cant imagine what the fishing on the housie would be like for me if it weren't for the Rainbows that are stocked by HRO. Yes I do get my share of brown but the rainbows always seem to save the day. If it weren't for a few places on the river where you can go to play with the Rainbows I would have to go home with the skunk. Not that doesnt hapen with the Bows.
I once again would like tho thank Harold for the effort he puts into the Housatonic river. I try to donate as much as I can for the stocking witch isnt much but I do what I can.

Thank you HRO for the great Rainbow fishing on the Housatonic river

Ditto. It's simple, if you fish for the rainbows, buy a raffle ticket and support the HRO shop. Thanks Harold.

Thanks for the support guys, we've had almost nothing but stellar feedback on the Rainbow stocking of the last 2 years- well over 2,000 have gone in since Fall of '06, and they are doing well. I wonder how big they will get?

Torrey, next spring I plan to catch an obese scud-eating close to two foot rainbow. I can't wait to see how well they feed this winter.

How cool would that be? I caught lots to 18+ inches- measured, but few beyond that. Got an obese holdover approx. 20" this Spring, it had to go 4#, an absolute porker of a fish. Surprisingly, while the fish was heavy and resisted being brought in, it didn't fight all that well. The 16-18" ones I caught fought much harder & more spectacularly. I guess just like people, they have different personalities. Should be some 20" class fish next year, and I'm talking REAL ones, not "it was 20 inches but I didn't measure it" (those ones always go more like 16-17", Lol). Hopefully some big browns too.
