This weekend as I went through all my fly rods I realized that I have accumulated quite a few over the past few years, (11 to be exact) just curious as how many you guys have.
here's mine:
greys streamflex 10' 3wt

James W Haynie 7' 5wt
James W Haynie 6'3" 3wt
Sage ZXL 7'6" 3wt

Re: how many rods do you have?
Cabelas three forks 7'6'' 3wt
Loon light touch 10' 4wt
Bass Pro Shop 7'6'' 5wt
TFO pro 8'6'' 5wt
TFO pro 9'6'' 5wt
TFO sig. 9' 8wt.
All pretty cheap rods but I like all of them except for the bass pro shop rod.
Re: how many rods do you have?
when my brother was first getting into flyfishing he had a cabelas three forks 7'6" 3wt, cheap but it still works today after being to hell and back. Just remember that you don't need a sage or a winston to catch fish, they're just bonuses in my opinion.
Re: how many rods do you have?
I have been fly fishing for a long time. So my rod collection reflects the changing technology. I have bamboo rods from the 50's ,fiberglass rods , boron and graphite. I have the 15th boron rod made by Don Phillips who I think was a United technologies engineer who was one of the first people to use boron ( I am not sure about that). Now I am hooked on Euro -nymphing so I have a ten foot TFO. PS - For close and medium range Dry fly fishing I prefer bamboo.
Re: how many rods do you have?
I just recently got into Euro-nymphing also and really like it but I still love the feel of bamboo more than anything. There's just something about it.
Re: how many rods do you have?
I have glass, grass & graphite. From 2 wts to 10 wts, two piece to seven piece fly rods. my collection include two switch rods as well. all toll over twenty fly rods.
Re: how many rods do you have?
I have been paring down my collection.
7 foot 3 weight for small streams
9 foot TFO Pro 5 weight...FOR SALE if anyone is interested...I think I have a total of 5 days with this rod.
10 foot Greys Streamflex...I have the 3 weight
9 foot TFO Pro 8 weight...salmon and steel rod
I also have a 9 foot Fiberglass rod I built about 20 years ago...took it out this fall and really liked it...putting it back into my regular use.
I have my eyes on a bamboo rod....looking for one this winter.
Anyone interested in the TFO it is flawless with the factory rod sock. Make a reasonable offer and it is yours.
Re: how many rods do you have?
I've been building my own rods for about 15 years or so, but they usually end up getting gifted or sold. The rods I've managed to hang on to:
8'6" 2 wt,
10' 4 wt,
9' 6 wt, (under construction)
9' 8 wt,
9' 10 wt
not to mention a few surf rods, boat poles, and a shimano freshwater spinning rod that I have in case my wife ever decides to wet a line :).

Re: how many rods do you have?

Re: how many rods do you have?
I have a few Sage's and a Few Hardy's, Main Rod is a 4# 9ft Marksman.. I really like my rod /reel combo(litespeed)
Re: how many rods do you have?
I sold 3 before my move west. Currently I have 7:
Fenwick Glass 8' 5wgt (my first ever fly rod)
T&T Special Dry Fly 8' 4wgt(this is slick and my second ever fly rod-great for drys!)
Scott G905 (all around rod-20+yrs)
Albright 9' 4wgt (good good rod)
Winston LT 9' 6wgt (the ultimate streamer rod-not too fast but cast a loooong line)
Orvis Trident (9 ft. 9 wgt-solid striper rod...stiffff)
TFO 8.5 ft 14 wgt...(Tuna Slayer)
List of rods to come...
Orvis Helios or Hydros...Ive cast them many times and they rock! Try one you'll like it..probably a 9ft 5wgt
Greys or TFO 10 ft...would like to find a euro rod...80% of my fishing is with nymphs now.
Re: how many rods do you have?
Do you reaaly need to know, ask Aaron l have a 240 sq ft room to house them.
Fly rods from 6 to 16ft for trout, Salmon, Salt.
then we have the spin , bait and surfcasters.
I have sold some in recent years, may be l need to make a list of those l would sell

Re: how many rods do you have?
You have a shed full of rods, not to mention the ones on the rack outside and in the house. You're out of hand. You have more than most fly shops.
Adam,
I might only use three regularly but I have a few rods for lakes, streamer rods, saltwater rods and Spey and switch rods for steelhead. In addition to all those, I have a stockpile of dryfly and nymph rods...
I sold some to friends on a first come, first served basis in the last few months. They were grabbed up before they got to the forum. The funny part is that I sold those and bought different ones:)
Re: how many rods do you have?
Main Rod ~ St Croix 4 wt - 8' 6"
Small Streams ~ 2 wt - 6' 6"
or 4 wt ~ 7' 6"
or 11" Tenkara USA
Bass ~ 5 wt 8'
Big Stream ~ TFO Pro 5 wt 9' 6"
Not hoards of them but enough to get me in trouble.
Re: how many rods do you have?
Aaron,
I sold two of the Sage XPs 10fts for $600. recently.

Re: how many rods do you have?
What did you get to replace them? We never sell rods and not but another one do we!!
Re: how many rods do you have?
Aaron.
I had more than one each of those.
The Streamflex 3/4/5 wts are the replacements, the 3 and 4 l consider to be better rods at the end of the day, the XPs were just a little too stiff for my liking.

Re: how many rods do you have?
I just broke my go-to Sage rod... Was bringing it inside and I dropped it (was in 2 pieces) a little too forcefully on one piece, it's a sad day :'(... What is Sage's policy on repairs?
Re: how many rods do you have?
Here is the link to the warranty page:

I haven't had to use the warranty (knock on wood).

Re: how many rods do you have?
Several spinning rods of various sizes that I rarely use.
One Shakespeare 7'6" fiberglass from the '60s. Ungainly, but still use in tight spots.
Orvis TLS 5 wt. 8'6".
Bamboo 9 footer made in the '30s. I stopped using it because it is essentially an antique, and I don't want to break it.
Question to all: Do you prefer 2 or 4 piece rods and why?
Re: how many rods do you have?
bamboo....envious...looking to add one to the wall.
All but one of my rods are 4 piece. Easier for me to travel with.

I like my 2 piece TFO, its easy to breakdown and get into a car when I'm hitching a ride to one of the creeks.
