Pennsylvania

I got the call at 5 am, no school today, I ran some errands and decided to go fly fishing.  I went to the Little Lehigh in Allentown as it is always a guarantee. Today was no exception. I caught tons of fish on "black beauties" and "brown beauties", same fly but different colors. I even got a few on streamers. Really good day. Lots of fish and only one other person was there. I had the PA slam, a brook trout, and tons of browns and rainbows. I am glad I decided to fish today.

Back out to central Pennsylvania. It was 15 degrees when we started. That doesn’t stop the TPO crew. We were on the road by 4:30 am. We were on the river by 8:30. It was a great day as usual. We met some great guys from Harrisburg today. Everyone caught lots of trout. My good friend John had 17 by himself, stellar day. Justin did well too. I caught so many that it seemed boring at times. What a great day for us. We caught trout on basically everything that we threw at them. The only thing that did not work were streamers. I gave them a good effort but came up empty. What a great day, I can’t wait to go back.

Rich, Justin and I took a trip out to Central Pennsylvania this weekend. We fished the limestone creeks; as they were the only fisheries that were fishable.  We had one day where we caught over one hundred (100) trout between the three of us. The trout literally took any fly we threw at them! Unfortunately, we lost some giant fish as well. The weather was absolutely freezing, but TPO toughed it out. There was not a moment when our guides weren't icing up. Justin caught the two largest trout of the trip that were around four pounds, one was weighed in a scale. On Sunday the weather was miserable but, we fished anyway. The highlight on Sunday was catching three golden/palomino trout. One of the palomino trout was measured right at twenty inches. It was so cold and windy out Sunday that there was even ice on our waders. Fishing on Sunday in that weather made us men. Overall we had a great time despite the difficult weather!

Justin and I made the trip out to the Little Lehigh. We were disappointed that the fish were pooled up in the heritage section. I wish they were more spread out. The amount of trout present made up for the small area we caught them in. The trout were not too picky either. We caught them on different types of midges from Black Beauties to Al’s Rats. We easily caught 40+ trout in half a day. Justin said. “His arm was sore.” Most of the trout were small, but we did get some that measured 16 inches. It was a fun day despite the constant ice on the guides.

I woke up at 6 am and could not get back to sleep. I had the itch to fish. I took the three hour drive out to Boling Springs Pennsylvania. I remembered having some really good winter fishing there in recent years. Today was no exception. The fishing was good in some spots and not so good in others. I caught one rainbow that's eye was white. Can anyone give an explanation? The flies that worked today were RED MIDGE LARVA, black midge larva, olives scuds and bright green cased caddis. When I put the RED MIDGE LARVA on it was game over. Some trout went out of their way to take my fly. It was a great day with lots of fish caught despite the cold conditions.

Here at Troutpredator.com we don't only catch trout... we catch anything!!!! I caught this carp on the Tully. It took a size 14 glow bug. In addition to the carp I caught about two dozen small trout. The largest trout was only about 14 inches. Sorry no trout pictures! Just sit back and enjoy the carp!! Funny thing, it put up a better fight than most of the trout that I have caught this month. Maybe carppredator.com is coming... stay tuned lol... just kidding. I will stick to my trout!!!!!

A second winter trip out, we couldn't stop ourselves after the first trip. Some of these fish measure over two feet. Worth the trip!

Great fishing on the Little J out in Spruce Creek PA, we landed some really nice ones, who would have thought you could find trout like this on the East Coast?

These are trout that were caught on Spring Creek in central PA. This was a great weekend with high water and lots of eager trout. I caught my largest spring trout to date twenty two inches. I got 9 out of every ten fish in a size 18 sow bug pattern.

Got word of the hatchery blowout via a friend. I went Bowman's Creek to find the mother load of trout. There were tens of thousands of trout that escaped during a recent flood. It was like fishing in a hatchery!!!!

Well it was.... the hatchery was in the river. It was fun because it was July and it gave us something to do for a few days. I heard rumors that they lost some Brood stock Atlantic salmon that were 20 plus pounds... well as you can see we didn't get any. I saw many smiling faces there!!!!! Not many big fish but it was fun!!!! notice the fly of the month in the trout's mouth????

A variety of Pictures from a few different trips.
