Hey Aaron, my name is Jaime. I met you at TGIF is Roxbury NJ a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering what size hook you are using for this pattern? Also how are you fishing it? As a dropper or as a main fly or what? Thanks. Jaime

The May 2007 issue of Fly Fisherman covers the sucker spawn and related egg patterns thoroughly. For the sucker spawn, they recommend a 3X short heavy wire straight-eye egg hook. I believe a size 16 hook would be about right for trout.

size 16 2457 is the hook of choice for the sucker spawn. you can also use a size 14 for larger ones and a 12 for when the waterr is high and stained.

The Tiemco 2488H is a really nice hook too.
