    Loomis Max GLX Czech Rod

Was looking at getting another nymphing rod and was perusing the Loomis website. They have a czech nymphing rod, the GLX, offered in 10', both 3 wt and 4 wt. Cost is $650 ($660 for 4 wt). Anybody ever try out 1 of these babies or at least cast one?Its a bit pricey compared to some(St. Croix , Greys are around $300 for example), but I really love the way the GLX casts. What do you think?

    Thanks,

I have tried them all out. Why don't you just get it over with, get the ESN and go get 'em. You buy one rod for it that you are going to use thousands of times during your lifetime so think of it like it like this, if you fish with the rod only 500 times it only costs $1.38 each time you use it. If the GLX was as good I would tell you.

Ok, I went to Sage site and read about ESN; has really good reviews also but is $699. I really don't care much about the $50 difference but if you recommend it Aaron, then I guess its the way to go.

The reason why we started TPO was to steer people in the right direction, whether it be tackle, techniques, leaders, flies, etc.

I will put my reputation on that rod. You will see all good reviews and the only bad ones are from people with other motives.

Most equipment out there AJ tries out. Most know that the top professional guys get their fly fishing equipment from the manufacturers for little cost. These companies hope to get a favorable recomendation for their product in return. Aaron doesnt give out a recomendation lightly. If their product is good then he will recomend it.
Now if a product takes a while to see the negatives as for example , breakage frequency, or durability issues, it may take a while for points of concern to show up. He has stated the the esn, for the time being, has no peer. Price can get us to look at other options but when he recomends a product price does not enter into the equasion. Most people pay attention to his product endorsements because he will always give an honest opinion.

Ive said it before, he is one of us. We are the average angler who manages to get out one or two times a week and fly fishing occupies a part of out mind set. Its there and you cant get rid of it. Lol. Its great to have one of us there to be in the position to guide us along with our fly fishing endevours.

I do like Sage as I already own the Z-Axis and feel comfortable with your recommendation, so will have to go with the ESN then. Honestly, I didn't know they had a nymphing rod out on the market yet until you brought it up! I'm sure its been mentioned on TPO prior but must have missed it.

    Thanks for the advice,

I would bet it's the same taper, just with the "nano" technology.
