Sherpa... This is for you! A recent trip to the Deerfield :)

I made it out to the Deerfield River and fished with Don Barnes and Chris Jackson he is a very knowledgeable guide on the river and a pleasure to spend the day with. His enthusiasm for fly fishing in unreal! They are both two class acts. We fished from the shore and floated the release. We even caught some fish during the day

The water temps ranged from 64-68 degrees.

I did get a GIANT brown at dark! It was a great time. The kicker was that the brown took a size 6 PMX.

    Here are some pics!

Awesome! I never caught one that big AJ...glad to hear you had a good time and some luck. Its a good river and gets better the more you know it(i think its in the sleeper category for new england). I really enjoy fishing the high water...lots of fish head for the banks so its not hard to find them. Anyhow I am really psyched you gave it another chance. Normal summers dont affect the temps as much as they have when I was there a couple weeks ago the temps were about the same although my success wasnt quite as good in the size department. There are monsters that come out at night there. My brother is supposed to call Chris, he heard great things about him from his Tuna fishing buddies..waiting for a nice fall day before the leaves come. Hey are those RedingtonSonic you are sporting?? Mine have held up for 2 yrs...pretty happy although I probably only get out 30% of what you do.

Yes those are the Sonic Pros. I have done some bad stuff to them and they do not have any holes yet. I am very surprised... and happy!

The take from that fish was like a toilet bowl flushing! It was awesome, probably the best "eat" of the year!
