    Dog's or people.

Yesterday I went fly fishing. I'm in the parking lot getting ready 1st pool is 50yds from lot, When a older suv pulls up ( bumper sticker say: dogs rule). Two older woman get out with 2big dogs. They say there just walking the trail. Off course no leashes. I say mam law say all dogs on a leash, park law. Stops them from jumping in while your fishing, Ever wonder whey state has these laws. Dogs do chase deer & fishers.Well they started cursing me out, They made me blush, and I was a sailor.
They leave mad, I get in first pool fish rising, great. Than another woman comes , off course no leash and dog's in water doing what dog's love, but he is in my pool.
I say mame you need a leash, She gets mad , puts dog on leash, and jumps in the next pool with dog with her cloths on. after splashing around for 10 to 15 min, she leaves. What nut's , they breake the law and your bad. She was wet up to her waist, Dog had fun, I still cought 2 Trout. I had to get it off my chest, I feel better now. Thank's

I had a border collie with bullet proof recall. I used to run him off leash all the time. But if anyone ever asked me to put him on leash I did it no questions asked. Now he was no water dog either so he would never ruin a pool.

I always felt I was breaking the rules so no need to be smarmy about it.

There is no trying to justify ignorance. Yes, there are laws. I've had spots spoiled by dogs and I get pissed. Sometimes I'll tell people flat out to restrain their dog while I'm fishing a certain area. I never play law enforcement with anybody. Most people are cool if you approach them from the right angle. I had a big dog jump in next to me at KLG one day and it pissed me off big time. After a curt discussion with the dogs owner she apologized and we are now friends. I try to visit her and her husband whenever I'm in the area. I have also dealt with my share of dopes as well.

I think bullet proof recall is standard equipment on most border collies.

It's people being inconsiderate. I love it when they say "sorry." You know they really could care less about you.

You, the fisherman/woman, by fishing in the stream that you have helped paid to support / stock by purchasing a license,
are intruding on "their park" and "their right to enjoy nature with their dog(s)".

    Doncha know that ????

Generally speaking, I prefer dogs to people. People are primarily useless. However- that is absolutely inconsiderate and you should do the same thing to every person you see. This has become a major problem at the Gorge the last few years.

I'm on my 3rd dog. First 2 were trained to sit on shore when I waded out, both off leash. I'm working on 3rd. I've had him for 2 years. I used to tie him up to something when I fished. Last two times out I left him off leash and he just layed on shore. He's not there yet but will be soon. I will always carry a leash. I take him out 50-60 times a year, this ones a bit stubborn but getting there. Dogs are good fishing buds. I don't know about laws on Montana rivers. Game warden some times has his dog with him off leash.

I never bring my dog with me when fishing because I know I cant control her if she wanders off and I am in the river; but if I am exploring or hiking in a fishing area which I often do with the dog, I let her run off leash until I see someone or if she just isnt obeying...even if the people are several hundred yards away..its not cool to have your dog bugging anyone, besides she seems just as happy on leash as off.
    relocated to the Rockies!

That's a good one. "Sorry". That makes it all better. They kinda wave their hand while they say it and walk away.
