    best dubbing mixer ever

I just want to give you guys a product alert.. I was in the wal-mart the other day and in the isle with all the kitchen stuff i saw this electric chopper it is called a Rival Mini Chopper. I picked it up and saw how cheaply it was made and started to put it back till I saw the price. $2.84 so I thought what the He&&. As soon as I got home I took it over to my shop and plugged it in. It is made so cheap that it doesnt have much power it spins like it runs on 4 aaa batteries with two of them dead.. I have two coffee grinders and a full size blender I use but the blades spin so fast that in a second all the dubbing is up on the lids. This cheap piece of sh%$ made in china of course is so slow that the dubbing stays on the bottom by the blades no matter how long you hold the button down. It mixes like a champ and rejuvinates your dubbing thats been packed tight in a container for a while. I hope you all find them as useful as I have. Best purchase of 2012 so far.

could you please post a picture, this sounds just like what I am looking for!
the other problems with coffee grinders are the cost, and the tendency to burn them out if not excruciatingly careful (which is counterintuitive to tying 100's of flies), as the longer dubbing strands always get caught around a spindle under the blades and put strain on the motor. the cheapest coffee grinder in my country are normally $15 (funny how the US can retail products made in China cheaper than Australia can......it's the market size).

I have to take a ride to Wally World and check this out. You are right about the high power grinders. I got one at a yard sale a didn't like it. This sounds better.

skeets I just bought another mixer last week. I still have it in the box and I will try to get a pic of it and post it on here. I have a problem posting pics at times on these forums but I will give it a try. perhaps this afternoon.

Fred, If you get a photobucket account(free) you can upload quick and easy to there, then just simply past the image, html, or direct link code(depends what mode your posting in) Plus photobucket will store your photos, so its free.

I blend dubbin a lot. Its an aspect of fly tying that allows you to really customize your flies. I own and use 2 different coffee grinders. Both from wally world. I have a hamilton beach, and newest one is a GE. The Ge is the Cadillac. It has a deep cup, with two blades, one lower and one upper. It also has a pulse button. The cup is large and removable.
What you say about the dubbin sticking to the lids of coffee grinders is absolutely true. I spray the lid and the inside of the griders with static spray after each session. This will stop the dubbin from sticking to the lid.

What kind of static spray do you use? I'm going to pick up one of these mixers this week and figure I'll grab some spray at the same time.

    Thanks
