Lackawanna River- Class A Section to be enlarged

I got some good news about the Lackawanna today. I'm on the local TU board and we received a draft copy of the report generated from the most recent electro-shock survey. The Class A section is to be extended from Olyphant, downstream to the Greenridge Street bridge. (I'm guessing that's 5 miles or so.) I assume this will also affect the regs. Two local groups had been doing small stockings for kids fishing derbies. I've been told stocking Class A water is illegal, so assuming that's true, the stocking should stop. (Nothing ruins a trip for me more than seeing golden rainbows in a pool I know held big, beautiful wild browns a week earlier.)

It's always nice to see a stream hit the Class A list or get additional sections added, and yes it is unlawful to stock trout in a Class A water.

Too bad they killed all those fish when they shocked AND put it on TV. PABFC has their heads in their butts. I even e mailed with the director and they had no problem. The water was super low and 78 degrees when the electro fished, what ever they didn't kill, the bait guys got in the following weeks. I bet it has a quarter of the fish and would not be class A anymore if they shocked again. They ate disgraceful and unethical.

I fish the Lackawanna almost everyday. I have no idea how many fish were killed in the survey, but I've been doing great throughout the lower river. Not that shocking the river while it was so warm wasn't irresponsible, but they shocked a few hundred yards when there's a couple miles of productive water in the lower river. I'm sure its still Class A.

It all depends on what you call "good," doesen't it? Good can be five for one person and forty for another right?
