    BWO Nymph

Hey guys. Quick question. What is your favorite/most effective BWO nymph? What about emerger? Fly names are fine, recipes appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!

Small trout bane. Emerger, either a softy with a flash wing, or a floating pheasant tail nymph. Happy holidays.

This is a Tracy Peterson pattern that has consistently produced for me :

    Hook: TMC 2487, Diiachi 1130 ,16-20

    Thread: Gordon Griffiths 14/0 Brown

Tail: Dun hen neck 4-6 fibers

Abdomen: BWO Goose Biot, Tan works well too.

    Thorax: Medium Brown Beaver Dub

    Bead: x-sm glass, gun metal for 18 & 20

Wing: Fluffy, soft barbs at the base of Dun Hen Neck feather ( tied over thorax & bead convex side up -then tied down behind the eye of the hook).

This is an emerger pattern which may be fished from the bottom of the water column to just under the surface...it is an excellent dropper.

    With a hot orange tag.

Hook: Whatever size you like for the pattern. I used Mustad 94840 in 14 to 18's
Thread: 8/0brown but 8/0 hot orange for the tag, then brown as the front 2/3.
    Rib: XS silver
Tail: Cree hackle fibres but brown or brown grizzly would work
Thorax:Natural hares ear Harelite Krystal Dub
Bead: Brass tungsten in appropriate size

That's a good one, just make the tag of fluorescent thread smaller. Less is more, I promise.

Thanks Aaron, but trithfully i tie them with small and large hotspots, it is to deal with off colour water conditions here. I didn't point that out and should have……Kerry
