Thanks for the write up. I know what I'm buying today!
This summer I was tying flies with a bunch of guys at the Slide Inn. We were working on very small caddis pupae. One guy from California whips out a spool of Roman Moser 10/0 Power Silk. I tried it and was sold on it right away. I think it is some kind of GSP thread but I am not sure. The thread is very fine and will not bulk up small imitations 18 and below. You cannot break this thread and it is very tough. The downside is its hard to find and expensive. Four euros a spool or five bucks american for 50 meters. I have been tying the JuJu Midge and JuJu Baeits with this thread is size 20 .

I saw that thread at the Somerset show. I really like it too. I wish you could find it in the States at a lower price.
Maybe this years show will have it again and I will pick it up there.
Next time I go to Europe I'm going to bring my my two free checked bags and load up on the stuff to sell back to you guys!
I have some...its pretty damn strong but pretty $$. I got mine at fly tying specialties...haven't ordered from him in a while..but he gave good service. My 2 cents...if its readily available and you are putting in an order try it but I dont bust any thread too often so I would say the value added is marginal.

You actually used to be able to get that stuff and other Roman Moser products at a fly shop in S. Williamsport PA called Hille's. I think they might have been the only shop in the US that sold his products. Over a year ago, they had a fire in their shop, and they were closed for a long time becuase of insurance problems. I'm not sure if they are open now or if they went out of business.
I just got mine from Steve at Welcome to Fly Tying Specialties
I know he has a lot. I like it a lot so far.
I noticed the mfc cdc 3g bags at a nice looking price. Has anyone tried there cdc?
No...have you tried it yet? Good CDC is tough to find unless you go through Marc Petitjean or Rene Harrop. I have been very happy with Rene's CDC for the last few years.
